Bad experience with letting agent John Rodrigues (JR) from [URL Removed] CT, South Africa. My wife rented for some months an apartment through the above agent.
Despite the fact that my wife has acted entirely lawfully, JR has chosen not to refund the excess deposit. JR has tried several false explanations for why the deposit has not been refunded.
JR did not show up at the agreed time for inspection upon vacating the apartment, and first after more than one month, he emailed some photos of damage, which he claimed had to be covered by the deposit! 1: JR is so late with his alleged claim that he has exceeded the deadline for such claims, 2: there was no damage to the apparent when my wife moved out - only very old damages, which had been there when she first moved in - such as subsidence damage etc.
[URL Removed] backs up their agent, JR, by maintaining total silence in this matter.
All these allegations are verifiable. We can only insistently advise everyone to refrain from entering into agreements with John Rodrigues and [URL Removed] since they both have proven to be untrustworthy.
