I vacated a rented property on 30 Novemebr 2012. According to our contract, an inspection of the property would be arranged within 3 days of the termination of the rental agreement, and with 24hrs notice. In this instance no notice was given. On the day that I vacated the property, I was asked to hand over the keys to the unit. The agent who took the keys from me mentioned that the garden needed to be weeded, and that a day rate of R120 will be charged. I accepted this. My deposit was refunded this morning and an amount of R750 was deducted for garden services. I was told that it would only be R120. I also feel that had an inspection taken place prior to us vacating the property, that this would have been brought to our attention sooner, and then I could have made the necessary arrangements and supervise myself. The deposit was also meant to be refunded immediately, as no inspection was arranged. The deposit was refunded 41 days later.
