I gave 30 days notice on rental of property which was accepted and my last day at this property was 15 September 2012. I was advised that I had to pay the half a month's rent for rest of September 2012 and that half a month's portion will be refunded to me within 10 days from me vacating the property. This never happened!!
Over and above that I was also told that the deposit that I paid when I moved in March 2011 will be paid to me also 10 days after vacating the property. This never happened!!
It is now exactly 6 months ago that I have vacated that property and I have not received R0.01c back. All my emails are ignored no matter how high I go. I even went to a lawyer who sent them a letter and this was ignored as well. I am told if I go to court it will take years and will cost me a lot more in the end. How is this fair that I get treated this way? How can they get away with this and I am left thousands out of pocket, having to borrow money to get by during those first months when promises were made but it never materialised. What more can I do now? It is just shocking that a company that has branches throughout SA can treat people this way and get away with it!!
