About a month ago my sister living in Cape Town had a break in. She had to get a glass replaced at her cost, which is fine. But there was a request from Faircape to install a gate from their preferred supplier. The first person they requested was quoting R 2500 for the gate and installation, but the second person they suggested was R 1368. Note that this would be a permanent fixture and they would not expect us to remove this once the lease expires. Therefore it was categorically stated that the tenant must pay for this installation. I believe this is unfair practise. Faircape as leasing agents, they should safe guard the tenant from this exploitation.
