Rather don't rent through Brooklyn properties.
1) Deposit is not paid into an interest bearing trust as per contract - as Mr Kloppers stated "Bankcosts are too high."
2) They don't acknowledge the Consumer Protection Act.
3) They try to fine for late payments - amounting to over a R1200.00 - luckily I had all the proof of payments with me - the excuse "I was looking at the wrong file.." - Wow - really?
4) They can't stick to one story - first they waiting for the owner, then they waiting for the lawyer, then they waiting for management - and two weeks later they still haven't heard from their own laywer - sorry but that's again just a lie.
5) They intimidate and try to threaten.
6) Mr Kloppers is EXTREMELY rude and seems to not have any skills in dealing with clients.
7) "It must be noted that in terms of the CPA, a landlord cannot charge a cancellation fee which would have the effect of negating the tenant's right to cancel the lease agreement. This means that a landlord cannot simply hold the tenant liable for the rental of the remaining lease period, and thereby negate the ability of the tenant to consider cancellation." - exactly what Brooklyn Properties is doing.
