Ent contract cancellation after deposit was paid

On May 1, I went to view the property with Agent Dinah and confirmed I'll take it. On the morning of 2 May I submitted all required documentation for fica and signed and paid deposit and part prorata rent in the evening. In the evening I paid the remainder of the money and agent Dinah confirmed that the application is successful and that she informed her manager the previous evening when I was completing mandatel. The same afternoon at 12h00 I received a call from the manager Alida that someone else has signed mandate before me, therefore my money will be refunded or they'll find another place which she could not guarantee.
How is it possible that the manager suddenly mentioned that someone signed before me when she was told the previous night that I'm at the office and no mention of another tenant was made?

This is pure unprofessional and unacceptable and this conduct should be dealt with.
