I went to do a refund at the munipality in September for a property that i sold in December 2012. I was told to provide bank account details, a letter from the bank as proof of my account. The letter from the transfering attorney stating the transfer. I provided all of this and waited in the queue (for two hours). I was informed the refund takes about two weeks, after a month yesterday i called the council to check the progress. They informed me that the refund was put into the transfering attorneys account (why?! Then why put me through getting banking details proof?!) on the 17th of October. I called the transferring attorney and explained this to them, they have come back to me saying the council did not mention what the refund was for so they have to charge me R100 because they had to track as to who it was for... I dont understand, I provided all my details, they account clearly said for which property it belongs to, why then do you do transfers with no references!!! Municipalty should pay this R100.
