I hereby write on behalf of my mother who has been receiving sick pension for the past 6 years. She is turning 60 on the 4th June 2013. throughout the 6 year period I had to write letters of application every year for her sick pension to be renewed as it was only approved annually. Early this year my mother started to remind me to write a letter of application for conversion of her sick leave to old age pension. I promised I would and guess what I did not have to do it. My mother has since received a letter explain that her sick leave pension will be converted to old age pension as of June 2013 since they are aware that she is turning 60! They explained that she does not need to go through any medical examination nor letters of motivations. What impressed me most is that I stay in Pretoria and my mom lives in Thaba Nchu, so whenever she receives mail she waits for me to come read it for her so that I can explain the contents in Sesotho. I am thankful to SASSA because it wrote the letter in Sesotho. My mother was excited that she got such good news from SASSA in a language that she can read and understand. Thank you so much.
