Last week tuesday i took some time off to go renew my license at midrand licencing department. considering government departments are open from somewhere between 8 and 9 till 3pm your average working citizen has to plan to take time off of work and go out of their way to renew their licences, its basically a nightmare and dreaded by all.

last week tuesday i was there at 11:30. systems are completely down and they are unable to help me with any requests that i might have. i stay calm and plan to come back.

this afternoon i go through there at 2pm. get there and get told they wont help me without my ID book so i quickly go home get my ID book and get back, im back by 2.30 i walk into the testing station and get told that their systems are down AGAIN and that noone is able to help me, so after making a plan to take TWO half days off of work i now have to make a plan to take a third now my license is officially expired and if i get stopped in a road block it is some ridiculous fine amount in the region of 2400 rand before and discounts have been applied this is completely outraging. but it comes to show the services we have come to expect from government departments in South Africa!
