SA Post Office
Non-delivery of foreign parcel

I ordered a product from the United States in November last year. I followed up with the SA Post Office in the middle of December to ascertain whether the package had made its way to SA, and to obtain the local tracing number. I was subsequently advised by the customer service centre that the package had not yet reached SA and that it could take up to 12 weeks for the parcel to reach me.

I accordingly waited until the end of March / beginning of April to follow up again. Upon contacting the SA Post Office customer services line on 15 April, I was informed (to my surprise) that the package had been received in November 2012 at Roggebaai post office in Cape Town (tracking number II281320507ZA) and, because it went uncollected for more than a month, it was shipped back to the US in January 2013. I never received any notification from the particular post office to collect the package.

What an absolute nightmare! When I did my first follow up at the in December - the package was already waiting for collection, but I was misinformed by the relevant customer service official.

The seller has also not yet received anything back.

Thanks for nothing SAPO!
