We hired Broomstix Somerset West to clean our house once a week starting in November 2012. Within a few weeks we noticed items were being scratched, broken or left uncleaned, while we were required to provide large amounts of cleaning products. In March 2013, we realized that food was disappearing while items inside our closed cupboards and drawers were being moved around. We made a point of checking levels of sweets and cookies before and after the maids were here, and found they were these weekly. The final straw came when my husband discovered a tube of toothpaste was suddenly gone after they left. We then checked my jewellery, and found heirloom rings missing. When we reported this to the supervisor, she "interviewed" the maids, but has not made any further attempt at finding or returning these items, nor at having them prosecuted to my knowledge. I have heard from a number of other clients that their jewellery has also disappeared under Broomstix's "care" with some of it re-appearing at nearby pawn shops. As we are unlikely to have our items returned or see justice, let this serve as a warning to others to avoid this service or face losing your possessions.
