My brothers came all the way from KZN to GP for the Soweto Derby last weekend (09 March 2013). We had paid for the R150 tickets. We could not get any seats in our section and were told to go sit at the top in the R60 area, we spent most of the first half walking around trying to find seats.
At half-time, we decided to go back to our area as we still could not find seats. When we got there, we found that the people in our seats had purchased R60 tickets!!!
We called security, who checked their tickets and asked them to move. they refused. Security called the police. The police asked them to move. They refused again so the policeman left. We had to spend the rest of the game standing, despite having paid more than DOUBLE for those seats.
I understand that no one checks that you are sitting in the correct seat at soccer games, that is the way "extra-strong" works. However, at the very least, they should check to see that the R60 ticket holders sit in the R60 area. There was quite a large number of R150 ticket holders who had to stand throughout the game.
This situation is RIDICULOUS, to say the least, and better controls need to be put in place.
