There's no sense in this, and you know when the walkers mock you as you photograph the litter at their feet, that there is little to no sense if responsibility for this sad spectacle - not from the participants, not from the sponsors and not from the organisers. Thousands of blue plastic water sachets strewn throughout greenpoint and seapoint, along the promenade and deep into the Eco Park. The light breeze carries these packets over the promenade edge, down onto the rocks, across the sand and then off into the ocean. How is it possible that this is allowed year after year? Ironically one of the sponsors is Sunshine D margarine and the other Polar Ice Creams, and their branded sun visors could be found littering the kiddies play area of the Eco Park. And then Blast energy drinks, their stand for these plastic un-manned. And still to come the disgusting environmental mess left by The Two Oceans Marathon, when again the sea will resemble dustbin. There are a few poorly motivated looking litter pickers up on the promenade (some are having a snooze under trees), but of course no one cleaning the mess left in the ocean. This is ignored.
