Hi i had no other way of finding this out besides posting here.
My dog ran away this morning and someone kindly took her to the spca.
I rushed over to the spca just in time before they closed to get her and once i had her they wanted R215.
I told them i can come back and pay tomorrow cause i didnt have cash and they threatened to take the dog back and keep her till i pay (rudely i might add). Which would also mean the price would increase for the longer stay. Then they mentioned something about how the municipality charges that amount to keep a dog even if it was just for a couple hours.
After looking at their website it says "We receive no state funding"
I did pay using my parents bank card which i still had on me luckily.
I just wanted to find out if they are actually allowed to keep your dog if you dont pay. Cause that seems ridiculous to me cause they are meant to be an animal shelter. What if it was a bad month and i didnt have moneyto spare? What are they gonna do, put my dog down if i dont pay? I cant help but get a feeling that this money simply went into someone's back pocket.
