Peugeot South Africa
Disappointed

I have a 2010 Peugeot 207 VTi Dynamic. The manufacturer warranty expired in April 2013. On Monday my car registered a "power steering fault" &the steering became really heavy. I needed an urgent diagnostic test to determine the fault. As Peugeot was fully booked I took the car to an independent contractor for the diagnostic and was quoted for replacement. The cause "failure of motor due to faulty control unit". My vehicle is 3yrs & 6 months old. I've called several places for competitive quotes-the cheapest ironically from peugeot at R18700- quotes start at R25000.I've always loved my car, but I will NEVER purchase another Peugeot. This has proven the bad press to be true, that there is a scarcity of skilled aftermarket suppliers, forcing one to rely on the "agents" and that the vehicles do not lend themselves to repair as the only recourse is replacement at an exorbitant fee because the agent has a monopoly on the parts. Regrettably the vehicle is out of warranty and i now have to repair a factory flaw at my own cost. As a mom who frequently drives alone with my 6yr old daughter and having been stranded at night with this car, Peugeot is a bad bad bad risk. A costly error in judgment.
