Non-delivery of Christmas Presents

On 2013-12-02, I purchased a number of items from a company in Germany as Christmas gifts for my wife and daughter. The item was shipped by DHL Germany to EMS SA (Track&Trace number II285420911ZA)

Apparently "The shipment could not be delivered" on 2013-12-11. This is extremely surprising as my wife and I work from home. Our PA was also present all day, as was our daughter and domestic helper.

From 17 to 20 Dec I made numerous calls to the EMS help line to attempt to arrange delivery, but despite numerous promises, the package was not delivered.

On 7 Jan I called the help-line again and was informed that the shipment had been intercepted and was being held pending receipt of the original purchase invoice, which I provided the same day. The package was still not delivered.

On enquiring again on 13 Jan, I was informed that I needed to provide a delivery address! I did so immediately but THE PACKAGE HAS STILL NOT BEEN DELIVERED!

Why has it not been delivered? When will it be delivered?

Also, WHY WAS I NEVER CONTACTED BY EMS & INFORMED of all of the apparent problems regarding this package? Why did I have to find them out myself one by one on continued enquiry?
