Debra Lee Wilson
Puppy sold as purebred

We recently bought a puppy advertised as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier purebred from a SACBR registered Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breeder. Before collection, I specifically enquired about the pure bred status of the parent dogs and was informed that both are purebred and registered as such, but that the puppies have not been registered. When we bought and collected the puppy, we noticed that the female dog used for breeding did not quite look like our idea of a pure bred staffie, but we are no pedigree experts and decided it should be fine based on the fact that both parents are registered as purebred. We later requested the registration documents and to our surprise it was not with KUSA, but with SACBR and the spaces where three generations of parent dogs should by filled in was left blank. The heading of the document is 'Certified Pedigree'. The document states: Open conformity, certified as Purebred - what a contradiction. The dogs are registered with SACBR as purebred based on photos.
I have to admit that we were too naive and trusting in the matter and would like to caution future buyers to properly verify SACBR registered dogs that are not registered with KUSA as well.
