Sanral has my highway, paid for by me and others with our taxes and petrol levies!!
In the first 30 years of my life I watched the entire highway system in Gauteng being built. It was paid for with taxes and petrol levies collected from only a fraction of the amount of people driving cars and hence paying, than there is today. In the last 20 years of my life I have yet to see any significant new road and highway development. Worse I have seen a major deterioration in existing roads. Robots which were rarely out of order are now frequently so. Roadsigns have dwindled to a dangerously low level and to add insult to injury they want to charge us a fortune for a simple widening and resurface job. Is it really so much more expensive to build a road now with all those fancy machines that have put so many people out of work?
