The receptionist allowed us through the back to put the dogs in the kennel. The first thing that struck us was the humidity in the grooming area where the kennels were. The place was filthy and the kennels had been full of hair. Being around 9:15am, the hair must have been from the previous day. One cocker spaniel had its mouth tied with something that resembled a shoelace and the cheeks were puffing with every breath. I questioned the groomer who said that the string was tied "in a bow" so it was not uncomfortable. At about 13:15pm we returned to collect and the humidity was still evident. A quick look around revealed none of the kennels had any water bowls, while the dogs were clearly panting. I questioned the receptionist whether the dogs had received water during the day and several minutes later they produced a dusty blue bucket that had clearly not been filled with water all day. The bathing area was horrendous with one poodle soaked and tied up seated in clumps of wet hair from other dogs. Furthermore, neither of our dogs had been brushed and no smell of shampoo was evident. The whole parlour is a horror show and the staff poorly trained.
