Krugersdorp Kennels
Death of a pet due to negligence

In December 2012 I booked my two dogs into Krugersdorp Kennels over the New Year period. My female dog was on chronic medication (cortisone tablets due to Addison's disease). I confirmed before booking my dogs in that the owners would be able to administer the twice daily medication in the form of tablets. I confirmed this again verbally and in writing with the owners of the kennels, and they confirmed that the medication would be given.
Upon fetching my dogs at the end of their stay it was evident that something was very wrong with my female dog and I rushed her directly from the kennels straight to the vet where she was declared to be in a critical condition - a semi-coma. She died a few days later as a direct result of failure by the kennel staff to administer her cortisone tablets during her kennelling. Proof that the medication had not been administered was the number of tablets remaining in the container. There were 17 tablets which were in the container given back to me. The vet likened the failure of the kennel staff to give my dog her medication to the same as withholding insulin from a diabetic.
The kennel owner's denied any responsibility for Blondie's death.
