We rented a property in Faerie Glen for 1.2 years, gave more than 1 month notice and spent over R7000 to wash carpets and clean house as requested by the rental agent, just to be locked out (with some possessions still inside) 2 days early, and no refund on deposit. The agent Katy admitted the house was in a much better condition when we left that when we moved in, and we even installed 3 x aircons valued at nearly R30K which the owner agreed to repay us on, on which we only received R5000. The agent told me to my face the owner said she should not refund my deposit, as there was a Tshwane dispute (which cost me nearly R12K in lawyers fees but I resolved it myself), and 1 I sorted it out, 2, the house was in an excellent condition, 3 we are still also owed the money for the aircons and repairs and 4 the agent shared confidential information between her and the owners which estate agents are not allowed to do. If you rent through these people, be SURE not to clean the house, upkeep the garden or pay the last month's rent as you will NOT get your deposit or any monies back at all. I am very sick and still they treated me like a dog. I was an excellent renter and that helped nothing.
