Issues with refund

I purchased a Dermalogica moisturizer with my cheque card on 17 August from the upstairs Sorbet branch in Canal Walk. I decided to return the unopened product on 18 August as I felt that Dermalogica products are completely overpriced in South Africa and will rather stock up when I go overseas. I was informed by the shop assistant that they are happy to refund me, but cannot reverse the payment on my cheque card and cannot refund me in cash as there are not enough funds in either of the stores. I would be contacted as soon as they have enough cash. That phone call has not happened to this day. I phoned the store this morning, as I don't want to waste my time again driving all the way to Canal Walk for nothing. Same story: happy to refund but there is once again no cash in either store. Seriously?! How is it possible that a reversal on a card machine cannot be done? I am also not happy to leave the product in the store and wait in good faith for an EFT. If they don't even phone back, why would they bother to do the EFT? I am absolutely not going to drive from store to store to see who can refund me! I strongly advise Sorbet to review their refund-methods/P.O.S-systems.
