As a South African with foreign qualifications, the relevant documents and fee were received by the HPCSA-Psychology in Oct. 2012. Following committee review, the feedback indicated the application was declined, which was only substantiated with an unacceptable 4 line explanation. An appeal letter was mailed for review by the committee in Feb. 2013, which explicitly detailed the information and clarification required. The HPCSA proceeded to provide another 4 line letter, which neither addressed the issues raised in the appeal letter nor did it deviate much from the prior feedback letter. After numerous phone calls (often unsuccessful) and emails (which largely remain unanswered), the HPCSA was requested to review the case again in order to address the original appeal letter that was not considered in Feb. The outcome of the latest committee meeting has not been declared (over 3 weeks ago). Considering the time, money, and effort that has been devoted towards obtaining feedback and assistance from the HPCSA, this particular case is unacceptable and requires immediate resolution. Failure to assist will result in legal options and a physical presence at the HPCSA location.
