I always thought that the media reports surrounding Eskom were exaggerated but it has now become abundantly clear to me that they are grossly understated. After several years of correspondence to Eskom about moving a distribution box, which has been blocking entrance to my garage for the past 19 years, I receive a "Final quotation" from them for R9272. If someone at Eskom had bothered to read any of the correspondence, assuming that they are able to, they would have seen that I strongly and most vehemently objected to having to pay for the moving of a box that was placed by them incorrectly and with total inconsideration to me as an occupant more than 20 years ago. It is alarming that we as consumers are treated with total disregard by parastatals like Eskom and then charged exorbitant rates for the privilege. I have now gone through all the channels possible more than once and will now take the next few steps, as so beautifully defined in our constitution. So, in a nutshell, media reports about Eskom are truly grossly understated.
