On 18/04/2013 my wife received an SMS stating that a Tshwane City Council account has been flagged for non-payment, and that the matter was handed over to their attorneys, whom we could contact at 012 741 3000. At 10:59 of that same morning I contacted the lawyers at said number, after which I was informed that the account number is linked to a property in Stead Ave, Pretoria. I informed the lady that we had sold this property in 2008, after which she assured me that no further action on my part was required. I requested an email address in order to get some form of evidence on the matter, which she refused to provide, and assured me that all calls were being recorded for future reference.
Today, 17/05/2013, we received another SMS from the same attorneys stating that we were being listed with the credit bureaux for non-payment of the account. We have received no other feedback in this regard, nor have we received any explanation with regards to the period over which the outstanding debt was accrued.
