NO NURSING CARE IN DAY WARD

On the 11th January 2013 my son was admitted to the Morningside Mediclinic for a liver biopsy. The biopsy was done in the radiology department and he was then taken to the Day Ward as he had to on his side for 5 hours. He was in the Day Ward from 10 a.m. until 3.30 p.m. and not once did a nurse come and check up on him. I had to go and get a bottle for him as he was not allowed to get up to use the toilet. I then went home and when I got back 2 hours later the bottle was still lying next to him. I then went to ask Sister Pat if my son could get something to eat. She said she would get him some food. After an hour there was no food and so I had to get him food from the cafeteria. There was not even a glass of water for him to drink. His blood pressure was supposed to be checked hourly but never was. In fact a nurse never came near him after he was wheeled back into the ward. When he was discharged (after I had to go and ask if he can go home) he was not asked if he was in pain. As he was in pain I had to go and fetch a wheelchair for him and wheel him out the hospital. This is unacceptable service! I informed the clinic via email and they have not bothered to reply
