My husband and I spend a breakaway weekend at the Shangri-La from 8 to 10 March 2013. The staff at the Shangri-La Country Hotel in Modimolle must be commended for their exceptional friendliness. They assisted and served at every turn and yet they did so professionally and unobtrusively. Andrew deserves special mention for walking the extra mile. Hats off to Nicholas, the chef, who prepares excellent food. His fillet steak is without comparison.
As for the hotel itself- it is beautifully decorated and has a lovely ambiance. The gardens are lush and exquisitely beautiful. The pool area was so tranquil with its fountains, that my husband and I spent hours there on the deckchairs, just talking and talking. The rondavel we stayed in was comfortable and the luxurious linen a lovely treat. Well done to the staff of this wonderful hotel.
