My mother was admitted to High Care on the Tuesday 19th February 2013. She had fallen and fractured her hip.
Wednesday 20th February my mother was lying on a "pillow" made up of folded sheets put into a pillow case. A 74 year old lady with a fractured hip lying on a "pillow" who said it felt like she was lying on a slab of wood. They had to look for a pillow and the same thing happened to me in October 2012.
I was then told to sign the consent form for the operation with having spoken to any doctor. I eventually got the doctor on the phone from theatre and he assured me that the operation was the best route for a patient of my mothers age, and the safest.
On the 22/2/2013 my mother was transferred to Section 6. On visiting I thought she was dead. She had no mouth care done and/or water administered her mouth was a big blood blister. No medication had been listed on her chart and 2 days after op, no antibiotics. Spoke to Matron, meds listed after.
This story is a lot longer but after 7 days discharged to Netcare Rehab. with 4 big bed sores, Prep supplied by me to prevent bed sores & they to me. Pensioners are paying all their pensions to Discovery for what, to be abused.
