I Got a foreign object stuck in my eye and only found this out after hours.
A doctor came to look at my eye, placed some dye in it and then told me there was nothing in my eye. He discharged me. My fiance had to call him back and show him that the foreign object was right there in clear view. The doctor appologized and removed the object.
I received a bill from a Dr E Gordon for the sum of R 448.40 which I thought was in line for an after hours consultation. To my shock I received a further statement just a few days later from the hospital for the sum of R737.45. I queried this and after having to ask for a response for two days, I get told by the Doctors that I must take this up with the hospital and the hospital tells me I should take it up with the Doctor. No one can explain why I must pay a Doctor for removing the object and then still pay the hospital a procedure fee. I never even had a sister/nurse assist so what is this double charge for.
I am tired of being passed from person to person and querying this. Im also tired of the buck being passed.
R1185.85 for 10 minutes, thats way more than my private Doctor Charges, next time I wont be visiting this emergency room
