Waiting for Authorisation for an Operation

I recently joined Spectramed medical aid on a hospital plan and was legible for benefits since 1st January 2013.
My husband was recently diagnosed with a Hernia and needs an operation. I got all the necessary forms from the surgeons office and then proceeded to phone Medical aid for authorisation on the 5th February 2013.
I was then told it would take up to 72 hours. No problem. After waiting 3 days i phoned for the outcome, only to be told the GP had written on the declaration that my husband had seen him for back ache in 2011. The medical have now said we did not disclose on our application that he had a back op, which he did have but that was 12 years ago. On the application the medical aid ask if you have had any operations in the last year and we said NO. The medical aid finally got in touch with my GP and clarified whatever they needed to know and that was yesterday morning, i was then called by the medical aid and told i would have the answer either by yesterday late afternoon (18/2/2013) or by this morning first thing.
I am still awaiting an answer from the medical as of now 19/02/2013 4.00pm.
the medical aid seems to see no matter of urgency in my case.
