SPEC SAVERS - HEAD OFFICE
Customer service

Good day,

I visited the Cavendish branch of Specsavers yesterday morning, Wednesday, February 12th, at around 10:45-11:00. There were three staff members present: a gentleman who was busy with a customer (there was only one customer in the store at the time), and two ladies behind the counter—one on a call and the other busy on the computer.

I was seen by them, but I waited. After the lady ended the call, her attention turned to the staff member on the computer. I waited and waited. Time-wise, three minutes may not be long, but considering that I was a customer and that I had not chosen to go to Specsavers on a whim or randomly—I went because I needed to—one would expect, "I will be with you in a moment," or some acknowledgment. No, I was ignored!

I've been to the same store on three occasions as I accompanied my friends. Even if there were many customers in the store, they were acknowledged and attended to fairly promptly. The only explanation I can offer is that I was judged on my attire and thus stereotyped and rejected. Needless to say, I walked out. I also made a point of saying, "Thank you for ignoring me," as I walked out. The gentleman who was serving a customer appeared startled as he turned around to look at the two female staff members.

I would like to know if this is standard Specsavers policy—that customers can be ignored on some pretext or whim.

Kind regards,

Ms. Motala
