Physiotherapy was performed on my father, whilst he was in hospital for the period 02/03/2012 to 06/03/2012. My father advised me that the physiotherapists came to perform physiotherapy on him and he advised them that before doing physiotherapy, they needed obtain an authorisation number from GEMS. The physiotherapists then left my father's room and came back at a later stage advising that they had the required authorisation to perform physiotherapy. Based on this, my father allowed them to do the required physiotherapy which the doctor had prescribed as at the time, not knowing that the physiotherapists had in fact not obtained an authorisation number from GEMS and were lying. As a result of the physiotherapists lying, GEMS medical aid has refused to pay this account and the physiotherapists now want to sue my father who is a 78 year old, extremely ill pensioner. I do not accept GEMS refusal to pay this account and also refuse to accept that the physiotherapists are trying to sue my father for this. I called the GEMS call centre but have been bounced around like a ping pong ball with no resolution.
