I submitted an account of my dentist (Dr Hugo Radley) to my medical fund, GEMS, for services rendered in the amount of R1 377.80. The necessary pre-authorisation was obtained by the dentist from Gems but despite this, Gems have failed to pay this amount. I submitted a complaint on the prescribed form to the Council of Medical Schemes on 24 August 2013 but have to date not received any acknowledgement of receipt or reference number. The complaint was emailed and a printed copy was mailed. This matter has been outstanding for a couple of months and neither Gems nor the Council of Medical Schemes have responded to my complaints. It is now becoming an embarrassment and I desire that something be done ASAP about this.
