I was absolutely horrified to discover that there is a clear link between Folic Acid in late pregnancy and early childhood Asthma and respiratory problems.
There are numerous references that show that Folic Acid in late pregnancy greatly increases a child's chances of developing Asthma:

It is not possible to get a prenatal vitamin without Folic acid. They are recommended before, during and after pregnancy.
My son was born in 2010. I took Pregnavit M all throughout this pregnancy. My son developed asthma after the age of 2 and we have been plagued by his repository problems ever since. If there is any chance that there is a connection I feel that there should be HUGE warnings on the vitamins and people should be made aware of the risks. It is irresponsible to continue marketing these supplements to pregnant women.
