Onderstepoort Veterinary Hospital
Cremation Mix-up, conveniently blame students

On Monday 18 June 2013 I took my 13 year old Basset to be euthanised. She had severe cancer. We arrived at the Outpatients just before 09:00. We gave very specific orders that her ashes should be returned!
A young student doctor assisted and took care of the body afterwards. On 25 June I received a call telling me that there was a terrible mix up with the cremation. Cleo was cremated with a bunch of other dogs because she was unidentifiable (she still had her jersey on. no "street-dog" wears jersies!!!), and the ashes cannot be returned. I not only paid for this service, but also completed all necessary forms correctly.
When my daughter phoned on Tuesday, plenty apologies and sorries were given, promises to be called with feed back and a refund of the account paid.
Nothing has been done!! No calls have been received!!
The attitude is "oops, sorry. It is something that was out of our hands".
To make it worse, everything conveniently gets blamed on "we work with students". That to me is no excuse, they are STUDENTS, where are the Doctors to check on specific instruction patients??
This file had specific instruction, which could not be followed... how comforting...
