So, I cut open my foot, which initially was only a small cut. The cut then got swollen and infectious after a few hours, after which I decided to go to hospital. I initially was weary of going for stitches, as I was on a new SCHEME at Discovery, after switching from another plan. I.e-> I have been a loyal client for 7 years.
I went to the network of hospitals and was admitted to the emergency room where I got 3 stitches (just three), which turned out to be R900. I had to pay the hospital and claim back, which I did, and then... Discovery refused to pay the claim due to a 3 month waiting period. I.e..."sorry, you are not covered for 3 months even though you are a loyal customer and pay your fees". However, after calling the call centre, I was assured that, if I had changed from an entirely diffeent medical aid, I would not have a waiting period, thus this would be covered.
