We went for lunch at Simon's on 26/01/2013. My biggest complaint was the service we received from our waiter. He looked like he had woken up from a long night of partying and reluctantly meandered into work. Luckily, he wasn't really present enough to have to see him. Unfortunately, this meant that we had very little/no service. It was often difficult to flag him down or find him and he didn't really seem to care. Although I was happy with my lamb sandwich, a friend ordered a meat dish that was meant to come with roasted vegetables. There were no veggies seen anywhere on the plate. She proceeded to ask the waiter where her veggies were and was then presented with a side dish of roasted veggies AND IT WAS ADDED TO THE BILL (cheeky and in bad taste). I wasn't going to complain on Hello Peter, but since our complaint to the manager (after the fact) fell on deaf ears, I think people ought to know before they buy. Simon's is supposed to be one of the more up-market vineyard restaurants in the Constantia area. They certainly don't act like it. I would definitely nominate this restaurant for Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Kristensen Hospitality and Simon's - time to catch a wake up!
