We had the privilege to stay at Burchell's Bush Lodge over the Christmas period of 2013. What a lovely place. I have read other complaints on Hello Peter of the resort lacking in standards and complaints of "No Drinks on arrival", air conditioning not working and like that.
Look, I get it, some resorts spoil their customers. And its nice. But as a normal unspoiled human being our goal was to visit the Kruger National Park as much as possible. And that's exactly what we did. When we came back from the Kruger in the afternoons we came back to a cleaned living space, air conditioners running with fresh towel laid out.
I'm compelled to say that some people does not understand air conditioning. If the windows and doors to a dwelling fitted with air conditioning is not closed, the air conditioning tend to not work. (If you cant handle Africa, don't go there)
We had a lovely time. We did our homework before hand and was told that the reception office would only be open at certain times. They have a very specific check in and departure schedule. It didn't bother us at all.
