What has happened to out hospitals?

My husband was admitted from trauma onto Surgical Ward 3 on 25 Dec 13.From the onset the service provided by the nursing staff was pathetic. I had to ask for pillows for his bed and breakfast for him the following morning because he had not be given any. Post Op he lay in a bloodied bed for over 10 hours and used IV medication bottles were just left lying next to his bed. If pain meds were asked for they were given anything up to 4 hours later. On the evening 28 Dec they told him they couldnt give him his pain meds because they had lost the key to the medicine cabinat so he broke it open only to be told that they could call the police, he had asked for these pain tablets before the 7pm visiting hour. He called me at 22.00 to tell me what was going on
We pay exorbitant medical aid fees to ensure that we receive prime medical care when required and this
certainly was not provided by St Augustines Hospital and it will not be a Hospital that we will consider using again should the need arise.
I will also be talking to our medical aid about this also as they are the ones who are ensuring that their members receive the best medical attention possible.
