My wife went for surgery at the Linksfield medicross hospital. Her surgeon recommend a Pain Pump at a cost of R1050 to be inserted after the procedure. The alternate was for her to stay overnight in the hospital to receive medication for pain and an extra trip for me to fetch her the following day. This request for the Pain Pump was refused, even after a motivation from the surgeon was sent to Fedhealth, some lame excuse about this item not being on the "approved list"! I am now paying this Pain Pump out of my pocket, and saving Fedhealth additional hospital costs. Is this fair towards a member??
