Unfair cancellation due to incompetence!

I signed up for Vitality to start with my new Medical Aid in December 2012 and after receiving my medical aid card shortly after the 1st of December I went to my local Virgin Active to sign up for a gym membership.

This required an initial R900 joining fee to be paid which I opted to pay in two instalments, however the month after I made the final payment VA began charging me the full monthly fee because my Vitality was cancelled thus locking me into a year long contract with them!

Upon contacting Vitality they told me it was cancelled due to non-payment, yet I had correctly submitted the forms with my correct banking details so if they did not get paid it was because they had failed to capture the details for the debit order correctly! Had they notified me I could've resolved the issue, instead they opted not to contact me and instead me over by making me liable for their mistakes!

I was even willing to backpay the Vitality fees to avoid the break they caused so I could get my gym membership back onto a Vitality membership and they weren't evening willing to do that. So Discovery can thank this incident for being the reason why I will now be switching medical aids.
