During my payment gap, I required blood tests, so I was referred to the on site Lancet Laboratories by my GP. Two months later I got a call from Lancet demanding R760 payment for an outstanding invoice. When I asked Discovery to explain the claim regection (after a 30 min call with the call centre - and numerous escalations) I was told that the policy states that if the blood test wasdone at Clicks or Discem, I would not have been charged, but because I used Lancet, I would be charged. So Discovery was happy to inconveinience a member to travel 20km to the nearest Clicks or Discem, when not feeling well, to stand in a retail outlet que for a Blood Test. When I suggested I pay the difference between the Clicks rate and the Lancet rate, I was told that this was not how the policy worked. After referring this up the line, I was told that they would then pay the claim, only to get a call two days ago stating that they made an error and would like my banking details to settle the claim. Needless to say, I have completed my application for Fedhealth.
