I went onto this Guesthouse's website and made a reservation which was confirmed by the guesthouse and was advised to pay the deposit of R2 500 immediately to secure the reservation which I duly did and sent confirmation to the guesthouse.
I received a call on that evening from the owner saying that she could not accommodate me as she was full. I was very annoyed and stated that I required my deposit to be repaid and would send her the banking details even though the details were on the proof of payment.
I then received a note of no charge which stated the following:
Deposit
: 2550.00 ZAR (Not charged)
No-show Penalty
: 2550.00 ZAR
---
This is merely an attempt to extort funds.
Extra amount to be charged for no-show penalty
: 2550.00 ZAR (Charged).
