There are a number of things I want to report but will limit to:
(i) negligent conduct
On admission we recorded that our child is highly allergic to penicillin. However we were still given an antibiotic containing penicillin. If I had not read the ingredients she would have been adminsitered this medication.
(ii) Not informing of results of blood test results
I noted with great surprise when i got a bill of approx R2400 from the pathologists that the Dr Kesavan Pillay had ordered bloods for allergies. He only told us about bloods for infection and inflammation as a result when my child was admitted into Umhlanga Netcare the next day she had the same tests done as we were not aware that they had already been done. Dr Pillay up to this day has not given us the results of the tests. This begs the question, why were the tests done if we were not going to be given the results? When I called to enquire about the results Dr Kesavan did not have the decency to talk to me or even call back as promised, despite his colleague, Dr Xulu, saying that he had been given my number and patient file to revert to me.
I am highly disappointed by this and never again will I go to this hospital
