I went to Medicross with head and shoulder pains on Saturday 31 August 2013. Saw a doctor and was told the headache was caused by sunusitus.
Got an injection and was sent to reception. No sooner have I closed the door and the account (including medication) had been submitted to my medical aid.
The visit came to over R1 000 and all I did was get an injection for " sinusitis" I had to pay R660 on the spot as my medical aid only paid R400 (Discovery is not all it's cracked up to be)
Asked the receptionist if she didn't think it was ridiculous to have to pay almost R700 just for a sinus injection and she laughed like I was a stand up comedian telling her a joke.
What is a joke is their rates though. It's RIDICULOUS.
I asked her if she can't give me the script and I'll go to a cheaper pharmacy to get the medication (Dolorol? really cheap and other stuff which I told her I have in the house.)
She just shrugged her shoulders and said they've already submitted to Discovery.
I would have liked an option to take the script before you submit. How bout that seeing as the money (R600 already budgeted for petrol) would come from my pocket and not theirs.
