My wife was recently diagnosed with Huntingtons Disease a serious degenerative brain disorder registered with medical association world wide as an ICD - 10-CM Diagnosis Code G23.8 .
I will not go into the effects and symptoms of this disease only to say that world statistics rate this as a 23 % suicide and 30 % death potential.
Its a pretty serious condition i must add and she is only in its preliminary stages.
Putting that aside this our Neurologist gave us the recognised listed SA chronic no PMB G23.8
What does the biggest Medical Aid company here say when i lodged my chronic claim for treatment and medication required for life - " NOT COVERED ON OUR SCHEME "
I was warned by my doctor this could happen but the rules governing this type of illness was indicated 100 % Chronic in terms of the Medical Aid "Bible " which i viewed in his office.
I questioned this refusal of cover with FEDHEALTH strongly threatening legal action, public exposure and Carte Blanche.
After much time spent on the telephone i was informed they would "REVIEW MY APPLICATION "
Its seems yet anther duck and dive by medical aids shirking their contractual responsibilities!!
