I was hospitalised at the end of June for possible meningitis by a Neurologist. Prior to the hospitalisation I had been treated by my GP for about 3 weeks for a constant, severe headache and stiff and sore neck. I also experienced fevers and hand a CRP-infection count that kept on rising. I am currently still on medication for the condition.
Despite being on the Classic Comperhensive (Delta) Scheme, we received information indicating that Discovery would only pay for 24 hours in hospital, and because the MRI that was done was only done on the 3rd day of my hospital stay, that it would not be covered (together with other expenses incurred after the inital 24 hours). Discovery have informed me that a Case Manager from the hospital needs to contact them, however the hospital indicated that he motivation letter from my Neurologist for the longer duration of hospitalisation was sent to discovery on day 3 for extended authorisation, however Discovery decided that I was suffering from a tension-type headache, and only 24hours admission was allowed. Tension headaches do not cause fevers or infection counts that high!!! Discovery is not the expert, my doctor is!
