A member of the forensics department was assigned to investigate my request for Pre-authorisation. I joined the scheme in March 2013, effective April 2013, and found out that I was pregnant when I went for a check-up after my medical aid came into affect. I was shocked to find out that I was already almost 13 weeks pregnant. when I phoned to pre-authorize my hospital stay for the birth of my baby, I was firstly given a pre-authorization number and then told that an investigation needed to occur. I was told that there should be no issue though. It took over a month before I was told that my request was denied and an exclusion put on my scheme. The fact that it took this long is unacceptable. The women who handled my case was rude, inept and entirely unhelpful. She has labeled my file with a "non-disclosure", effectively calling me a! I take deep offence to this and I am thoroughly disappointed in Discovery Medical as a whole!
