Discovery Health
So Called "System error"

I was taken through to casualty on the 23rd Sep.2012, for an abcess. We at the time were not sure what abcess it was, however the Glynwood hospital did indeed contact the medical aid and they received the authorisation electronically for a dental abcess. 3 days were initially given for my stay in hospital. on the 25th of September 2012 there was an issue that arose from the medical aid that they were not going to pay the bill due to it being a "waiting period" on my scheme. I had no such waiting period. I told the hospital if discovery is not going to pay then i must leave, i was told by the hospital they had 3 days auth for me so the bill will be paid and they also mentioned that they had a further 1.5 days authorised. so in total i was given 4.5 days. On Thur 27th i contacted discovery myself at the case managers desk to clarify exactly what the problem was. I was informed by the medical aid firstly that it was a "waiting period" then it was an "exclusion" and then i was told that it was pulled back as i was in active labour.( baby was only born on 18th November 2012) We are now being held liable for a R10 000 odd bill to pay the hospital. This is totally unfair as auth was given!
