Blatant liars, total! Shameful marketing

Yesterday I received a cold call from, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Taj. He began with a blatant lie. He said that they wanted to offer me a free dining experience. After a bit of digging it became clear that it was in fact NOT FREE, but rather that I could enjoy the experience only after having purchased a "1 of 20 exclusive R1500 membership" to their club. I would also receive other "freebies" to the value of R18k. I pointed out that R1500 meant that the offer was not free, but merely cheap. He struggled to admit that the Taj had stooped to the level of cheap, but then confirmed it: R18k value for R1500 is about as cheap as it gets. I asked how he got my number and he claimed that a "colleague of mine" had referred his manager to me. I joked that I didn't work, but rather played video games at home all day, to which his response was to ask to speak to Mr. van der Walt Senior. Irate, I asked for his full and ashamed he chose to give me a false one!
